Iowa Beta Chapter

The Eminent Deputy Archon is a multi-faceted leadership position in the chapter. The EDA is in charge of many internal chapter affairs. First and foremost, he is in charge of the Standards Board of the chapter. This board acts as the disciplinarian for the house. They assess damages or bylaw infractions committed by members and discipline accordingly.

The EDA is also in charge of setting up brotherhood events each semester for the chapter. Brotherhood events are non-alcoholic activities for the entire chapter to participate together in order to strengthen the bonds within the realm. These can range from activities such as paint-balling and golf outings to barbeques and educational lectures. Brotherhoods are vital aspects to the growth and strength of our chapter. They are especially important during the first few weeks of a new pledge class because it allows all members to get to know each other.

The last important task of the EDA is to inform the chapter of on-campus educational lectures. The university requires each chapter to have certain attendance numbers at a certain number of lectures each semester. This is important because it helps maintain a good relationship with the University and facilitate and foster a chapter focused on education.
