Sigma Alpha Epsilon exists to enhance the education of young men. With this core area in mind, the Fraternity provides resources to support the education of its members. Our vision is to seek and promote the highest ideals of academic excellence while providing programming and support for chapter members so that they can achieve academic success that commensurates with their potential.
As the acting Scholarship Chair, it is my duty to encourage all active members to set goals that not only challenge, but inspire them to exceed in their academic endeavors. In order to do this, Sigma Alpha Epsilon educates and provides resources to new members in the hopes that we can instill a strong academic focus that will not only provide a foundation, but a platform for academic accomplishments to come. Although we are a social fraternity, Iowa Beta acknowledges that academic achievement is a priority. Currently, Iowa Beta provides 3 outstanding scholarships ( The SAE Scholarship, The Brotherhood Scholarship, and The True Gentlemen Scholarship) while the national headquarters of Sigma Alpha Epsilon provides numerous scholarship opportunities. So far, in 2009, more than $60,000 has been awarded to deserving Brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. In addition to that, the Iowa Beta chapter is sponsoring a pledge scholarship that will be awarded upon activation to the individual that best exemplifies academic ambition and growth.
It is our goal to promote educational opportunities through inspiring, educating, and instilling academics as a core value among all of our members.
