| President's Welcome | It has been an eventful and exciting year here at Iowa Beta. The chapter has been going through tremendous growth, and hopes to grow stronger in the Greek Community every day. It has been remarkable how far we have come in the last semester. We have almost 20 true gentlemen living in the house this year, with a significant increase to come in the fall. Our chapter cumulative GPA is a 2.91 with 80 current members, and 6 more informal to be activated by the end of the scholastic year. While we always encourage out members to participate in the University of Iowa’s Dance Marathon, there was outstanding participation this year. We had about 30 members participate in raising money for children with cancer, and the money went to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. Members have participated in not only Dance Marathon, but volunteered at Habitat for Humanity, Heartland Elementary School, University of Iowa Hospital Blood Drive, and many more to come.
Among the changes in our Chapter, the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Iowa Beta Chapter will be having a new Philanthropic event this year. This spring, on May 9th, our own True Gentlemen will be hosting a clothing drive, with all clothing donated to various organizations, and all cash donations going to the Children’s Miracle Network. To donate to this cause, please contact our philanthropy chair, Derek Schmitt, at derek-schmitt@uiowa.edu
There was a lot of participation in recruitment this last year. In the fall, the chapter initiated 28 new members, 6 informal pledges this spring, and we hope to repeat our outstanding year of recruitment this year.
Our new exec board consists of sixteen members that truly want to advance this chapter in the Iowa Greek Community, and everyone is excited about the changes taking place. We are excited about the future, and we are looking forward to seeing and hearing from everyone in the future.
